an inspiring company to keep your eye on: under the stairs paper co.

If you don’t know me on a personal level, you probably don’t know that I have lived in quite a few places. One city I was proud to call home for 5 years is Toronto, Canada. During my time in Toronto, I made many lasting friendships and worked with many inspiring individuals.

One of those individuals is Julia Mace, a complete ray of sunshine. Julia has the best sense of humor and many other wonderful qualities that make her someone I could never forget about! Julia is inspiring to me because she has recently started up her own business, fulfilling a dream she has had for quite a few years. Not only is she inspiring for fulfilling this dream but also for creating a business that is so true to her talents.

HOW IT ALL BEGAN

Under the Stairs Paper Co. was started in 2015 and is growing every day. Julia and her business partner Diane create one of a kind, handcrafted cards that reflect their personalities perfectly; full of joy and laughter. Their business motto is to share their joy through their handcrafted cards, one card at a time. Some of their best selling cards to date are below.

They are also coming soon to Toronto and Ottawa boutique Victoire and soon to be open The General located in Prince Edward County. If you are interested in working with the duo to create a customized card, simply direct your messages to: Under the Stairs on their Etsy page.

light layers

how to layer an outfit

It seems as though we have been playing a little game of hide and seek with the weather lately. The sun and warmer temperatures come out to play just long enough to get us in brighter moods and lighter clothing, and then quickly hide again.

I believe that the best way to tackle this game of hide and seek is to win in your own way. We can’t control the weather, so lets try our best to enjoy whatever comes our way.

During these awkward times with the season, one must learn the art of light layers. It is April, and it is spring, and since I have been practically counting down the days to wear lighter shades, I am doing so. This light and neutral toned outfit most definitely gives off a springtime fresh vibe, even though I am still keeping warm.

Thankfully the style of layering longer blouses with lighter sweaters is so hot right now, we don’t even have to worry if our layered look is #onpoint enough or not. I paired this light weight sweater with a longer, silky blouse to not only make it a warmer spring time option, but to add great detail. Simple touches like this to an outfit really vamp up the whole look.

You can never go wrong with styling an outfit with an ankle bootie. If you don’t yet have an ankle bootie in your shoe collection, please stop reading and follow this link.

I am totally kidding, please keep reading and only click the link if you want to! I am not here to tell you what to do, but I promise, the ankle bootie is such a great footwear choice when transitioning into spring. I recently added these camel coloured ankle booties to my collection and do not have a single regret. I only wish I bought them sooner. Because they are a lighter in colour, they easily pair with any outfit and keep the look fresh, rather than harshening it down like a black pair would.
