may favourites// beauty addition + Nu Skin GIVEAWAY

Nu Skin Beauty

It’s been awhile since I last shared with you a wrap up of my monthly favourite items so I am talking a break today from the regular outfit posts to share with you a couple of my favourite beauty products I had the chance of testing out during the month of May.

For pretty much all of my life I have struggled with problems with my teeth. During the past few years I was fortunate enough to be able to complete a few dental procedures to fix many of the cosmetic aspects of my teeth. One of the procedures happened to be professional teeth whitening; a process that was painful but left my teeth stunningly white. Unfortunately after a short period of time, my teeth started to fade away from the pristine white colour they once were and getting teeth whitening done again just wasn’t in the budget. I started trying out different kinds of whitening tooth pastes and although I can say that I did see slight results, they weren’t as great as I had hoped. Recently I started testing out Nu Skins AP Gorgeous Bright Fluoride Whitening Toothpaste  and was thrilled with the results. Within the first couple of uses I started to see my teeth really becoming noticeably whiter, even on certain problem areas on my teeth where plaque can build up. I will keep you updated with this teeth whitening journey and provide you a final outcome when I have finished the paste. Until then, if you are interested in trying out the product you can by it here.

Another product I have currently been loving from Nu Skin is their Replenishing Lipstick in shade Berry Glaze. I thought this shade would be the perfect addition to my collection for summer. I will admit that when I received the product the shade looked much darker than I expected but once on your lips that isn’t the case at all. I ended up loving the colour and it really is a great shade for summer to switch up from my regular nude and pink lipsticks. I was really impressed with how long-lasting the lipstick was. I literally can go the majority of the day without a reapplication.  It also feels amazing on my lips with a smooth application that dried in a matte like finish.

march favourites: the face edition

As someone who has suffered from quite persistent facial acne in the past and has only got it in check over this past year, I am very cautious about what I put on my face. During this acne struggle I only washed my skin with doctor recommended cleansers and only used make up products that were well made, recommended by experts and tested before purchasing. Since I feel confident that the worse of this acne struggle is behind me (fingers crossed) I am becoming more open to trying new products.

While caring for my acne, I always used moisturizer and creams that were either prescribed or recommended by a doctor. Although these creams were great and I definitely feel they are a major part of why I may have won this battle with my acne, they were only helping that one facial concern. As I am aging I am noticing the most signs on my face and I wanted to buy a moisturizer that not only kept my face moisturized and hydrated but also would help to slow down the aging signs I have started to notice.

I purchased Nivea Mattifying Day Cream w/ SPF 15 because I have had great experiences in the past with Nivea as a brand. I was drawn to this product because it is suited for combination skin. Since this is the first step away from the moisturizer recommended by doctors, I still wanted to be cautious. After the first couple days of wearing this face moisturizer, I was very impressed. A little bit of cream goes a long way; it doesn’t feel greasy or thick on my face, and does not look oily. My face feels extremely moisturized, it is protected everyday with SPF 15 and I have not once had a breakout. It is the perfect base under my makeup, truly giving off a soft, mate look.

As you now know I have struggled with acne problems and have always been very cautious in regards to what I apply on my face. In the past, I have spent hundreds of dollars on designer powders and foundations, only wanting the absolute best for my skin. Not only did I want a product that wasn’t going to make me break out but also cover my problem areas. I was encouraged by a few people (one including my mama, who like me, also wore Lancôme press powder religiously) to try out Mineral Wear by Physicians Formula. I have been giving it a go over this past month and I do not have a single complaint. I personally don’t like to put a lot of face makeup on so when I saw how this mineral powder looked on my face, with only moisturizer underneath, I was immediately sold. Not only do I love this product because of the way it looks but it also feels so light and smooth on my skin and works well to cover any problem area. I purchased this mineral powder at Winners but you can also purchase this product here.

I have been a fan of blush for quite some time and lately have found myself using it much more than bronzer. In the past I purchased very typical blush shades such as dusty roses and bright pinks. I was attracted to this blush by Cargo because of the mixture of rose and gold sheen. I thought it would be the perfect combination of bronze and blush; and that is just what it was. Not only does this blush highlight the apples of my cheeks but also defines.  I love how the colour blends into my somewhat fair skin tone, adding the perfect final touch to my makeup. This blush has worked fantastic during this past winter month and I am sure it will look even better once I’ve gained back more sunny colour to my skin. You can purchase this fantastic blush by Cargo here.

february favourites

lashem brow tint

Happy Monday!

I know this post comes a little far from the actual Month of February as we are already entering week two of the month of March but I figured better late than never. This post marks my first beauty related content on lovefrombella as I am about to share with you 4 of my top favourite beauty items from the month of February.

I wanted to write this first “my favourites” post about beauty as a leeway into the topic of beauty on the blog. I am no where near considered a beauty expert and am probably more on the opposite side of the spectrum (a complete noob) when it comes to the topic- but as I am slowly learning, I am finding new products along the way. Products I love so much that I figure I should share them to the world, so maybe I can help out my fellow beauty noobs.

I have been playing around with the bold lip trend for quite some time, and had yet to find a red option that I felt comfortable enough to walk out the door wearing. I used to think that red lips were not for me and I should leave it up to Taylor Swift to perfect this style. I decided to give it another go with the Cargo ‘Essential Lip Gloss in their shade Prague, hoping for an alternative to a bold lipstick finish. With luck, that happened to be the case. Since this product is a gloss it smooths over your lips easily, with the added help of the slender applicator, allowing you to easily colour within the lines. The overall appearance is the perfect tint of deep red over your lips, still bold enough to make a mark but allow you to remain in your comfort zone.

Unfortunately I wasn’t blessed with the most full and shaded eyebrows as others and like many have to result in finding ways to make the two hairy friends on our faces pop! I have tried multiple options to perfect #browgoals and it wasn’t until this path month that I feel I have almost accomplished it. I purchased the Lashem Colour Strokes Brow Tint & Lift  as my third attempt with a liquid form of eyebrow perfecting. In the past I have purchased other eyebrow mascaras that were either too thick, leaving way too bold of a brow for my liking and a clear option which was supposed to help sculpt but I didn’t feel it did that. The eyebrow mascara from Lashem is light in colour and in weight so it doesn’t apply onto my eyebrows looking heavy and overly bold, it adds the perfect amount of tint and grooms to perfection… allowing you to achieve your #browgowls.

Since the mark of the moment where I realized that I have become an adult, I added a couple actions to my list of daily rituals. One of the beauty related rituals includes better face and skin care. I am someone with a mixed complexion and need to give my skin a little extra loving on a very regular basis. I had been focussing on the cleansing aspect to skin care quite well but was missing out on moisturizing and preservation. I didn’t have a care about products that would potentially help the look of wrinkles or make my skin look more youthful because I figured, I am youthful and I don’t have wrinkles. Well, I was wrong- these are the years, the years of your early twenties, the years where we should start to extra care if we want our skin to hopefully remain looking its best as we age. I was lucky to receive a fair sized sample of Vivier Skin C E Peptides, a liquid form of the highest level of Vitamin C, designed to help damaged skin look and feel younger. The serum is applied through a dropper applicator and a little drop truly goes a long way. I had been noticing that my under eyes were starting to show the most major signs of skin aging and had been testing this product mainly on this area. After a month of use I can truly see a difference- not all of my concerns have diminished but I can see the skin looking tighter and the few wrinkles that were starting to appear, have thinned out remarkably.

On a daily basis, my overall makeup look is quite neutral and I tend to stick to the basics (mascara, foundation, blush and something on my lips) the statement piece I prefer on my face is my eyes. Going back to the topic of my brows, I was born with light shades of hair and this unfortunately includes my eyelashes. Mascara is truly key to making my eyes pop and be the statement piece on my face. I prefer to showcase more length versus volume on my lashes and with all of the mascaras out there, there hadn’t been one that I was overly obsessed with just yet. I really don’t like the look of clumpy lashes and Fusion Beauty Lash Fusion XXL assures that will never be the case. This mascara goes on clean, clump free adding length and subtle volume to your lashes, truly making them be the statement piece on your face. With perfectly designed wand, you can add more with the thicker section and add detail with the small tip.
